Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe
The journey to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, at 3454 metres Europe’s highest altitude railway station, is the highlight of every visit to Switzerland. Kleine Scheidegg
Kleine Scheidegg is located beneath the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau at 2061 metres above sea level. It offers visitors a spectacular view of the notorious Eiger North Wall. In 1936, awestruck onlookers watched as four mountain climbers perished on the wall in dramatic circumstances. The tragic story was later made into a film.
Kleine Scheidegg has a railway station, restaurants and hotels. It is also the starting point for the trip by Jungfrau Railway to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe as well as for many superb hikes. -

Jungfrau Eiger Walk - The experience
The Jungfrau Eiger Walk is a well-built hiking trail, with presentations at various points. It is suitable for all ages. The walk is in a magnificent mountain setting and can be made from the Eigergletscher station to Kleine Scheidegg or in the opposite direction. The theme of the Jungfrau Eiger Walk is the Eiger North Wall with its decades of dramatic history – tales of triumph and tragedy. The downhill hike takes about 40 minutes, the uphill hike takes about 50 minutes

Eiger Trail - Hiking along the foot of the Eiger North Wall
The Eiger Trail runs along the foot of the famous Eiger North Wall from the Eigergletscher station down to Alpiglen. The mountain trail winds through a picturesque landscape, passing rushing streams and bizarre rock formations. The notorious Eiger North Wall is so close that you can actually sense its mystical and legend-laden aura. Both starting and arrival points are easily reached by rail. The downhill hike takes about 2 ½ hours.

Harder Kulm
It takes just eight minutes to travel by funicular from Interlaken to the Harder Kulm, Interlaken’s home mountain, where the restaurant, at 1322 metres above sea level, is reminiscent of a small castle.

Schynige-Platte
Those visiting Schynige Platte with the cogwheel railway will feel transported back to the days of belle époque. The nostalgic railway takes 50 minutes to travel up the 7 kilometre stretch. Wooden benches in the carriages, rolling stock from the 19th century and conductors in historic uniforms recall a bygone era.

The classic high-Alpine hike. The trail climbs steadily from Schynige Platte, then passing the Mändlenen hut and to the Faulhorn summit. It then leads down to Lake Bachalpsee before continuing almost level to the First summit station. Fantastic views of the summits and glaciers of the Bernese Alps along the entire route. This demanding trail requiring a good basic level of fitness. Hiking time: 6 hrs 10 min.
