Harder Kulm

You can take the cable car from Interlaken to the home mountain, Harder Kulm, in eight minutes. The restaurant which looks like a small castle is 1,322 meters above sea level. Harder Kulm offers a beautiful view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains and of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz.

Today, the trip up the Harder is by a state-of-the-art, computer-controlled funicular railway. And we could almost forget that the journey on Interlaken's home mountain can look back on a long history: red carriages have been travelling between Interlaken Ost and the Harder Kulm for over 100 years. On 15 May, the anniversary of its opening day, a Harder excursion is especially attractive: tickets are available at the special price of 10 or 5 francs.
